Overview

This training provides essential inclusivity education and skills development in adaptive surfing, disability inclusion, and universal access. It aims to create employment pathways within adaptive sports, particularly for youth with disabilities, fostering broader access to ocean-based careers. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to create more inclusive environments and support diverse hiring and engagement. A workforce trained in disability inclusion builds a more compassionate, capable, and equitable society.

This introductory session will provide inclusivity training, creating employment pathways within adaptive sports. This is especially relevant for youth with disabilities, encouraging broader access to ocean-based employment. Equips participants with knowledge and skills to make environments more inclusive, fostering diverse hiring and engagement. Disability inclusion also builds a more compassionate, capable workforce

• Relevant Skills: Adaptive surf techniques, working with people with disabilities. Knowledge of disability rights, inclusive practices.
• Positive Skills: Compassion, inclusivity, resilience, empathy, advocacy, and social responsibility.
• Soft Skills: Patience, adaptability, sensitivity to individual needs, Interpersonal skills, cultural awareness, active listening.
• Technical Skills: Adaptive surf equipment use, modified coaching techniques, mobility and support skills. Universal design principles, accessibility adjustments, adaptive communication methods.
