Support Six Youth with Disabilities – Help Them Reach SA Para Championships and Make Their Dreams a Reality! A life-changing opportunity! This April 2025, six  para-surfing athletes from Cape Town have the chance to compete in the South African Para Surfing National Championships in Durban. But they need your help to get there! The South African Para Surfing Nationals is the official selection event for the 2025 World Para Surfing Championships in November. Participation in this event offers these young athletes a life-changing opportunity to qualify for the global stage, empowering them through sport and inclusion.

Why This Matters These athletes face financial and logistical challenges that make traveling and competing difficult. Your donation will help cover the following essential costs: 

  • Travel & Transport: Domestic air travel and ground transportation between the airport, accommodation, and competition venue. 
  • Accommodation: Accessible lodging for athletes and their chaperones.
  • Equipment Logistics: Safe transportation of specialized para-surfing equipment.
  • Support Personnel: Coverage for staff assisting with logistics, mobility support, and in-water assistance.
  • Nutritional Support: Providing proper dietary provisions.

Meet Our Athletes

Meet Raemondo: Raemondo is the defending National Para Surfing Champion. As quadruple amputee, he started surfing in 2021 and has since become an inspiration in the para-surfing community. He lives in Khayelitsha with his mum and siblings. Rae has just matriculated and is currently part of the Roxy Davis Foundation’s Ocean Ambassadors programme, where he continues to develop his skills in and out of the water.

Meet Noluthando: Noluthando is a single mother and the defending Para Surfing Champion. She triumphed in the 2024 championships in Cape Town after overcoming many challenges. Nolu has cerebal palsy and currently lives Khayelitsha. Nolu’s unwavering determination and courage in balancing motherhood, training, and competition make her a true inspiration. Proving that no obstacle is too great when passion and perseverance drive the way forward.

Meet Emihle: Emihle competes in the Stand 2 division and was a finalist in the 2024 South African Para Surfing Championships. In 2023, he was the first reserve for the national team, narrowly missing selection. This year, Emihle is determined to secure his place on the 2025 national team, training harder than ever to achieve his dream. His journey is a testament to perseverance, and with your support, he can compete in this years national event. 

Meet Thando: Recently matriculated and is a competitor in the kneel division as a lower limb amputee. Thando began his surfing journey in 2021, a decision that would not only transform his life in the water but also have a profound impact on his day-to-day living.

Meet Nasr: A remarkable athlete in the All-Inclusive Stand Division, who lives with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), a condition that causes bones to break easily. Despite the challenges posed by brittle bone disease, Nasr is a South African table tennis champion and is showcasing his exceptional skills on a surfboard. His journey is one of resilience and he is a true advocate for inclusivity in sport.

Meet Diego: Diego is an athlete with a spinal cord injury who competes in the Prone Unassist Division. He is a fierce competitor and has a found a deep love for the ocean. He is currently still in school completing Grade 12. Diego lives in Belhare with his mom and siblings.
